Yesterday, Donald Trump revealed that he has received what’s called a “target letter” from Special Counsel Jack Smith, meaning that he is soon likely to be indicted in the federal probe into the January 6th insurrection. On the same day authorities in Maryland unveiled charges against 16 individuals who conspired to steal victory in the state’s presidential election from Joe Biden, and wrangling continued over the timing of Trump’s trial in the Florida stolen documents case, with the crucial question of whether it will happen before the 2024 election still up in the air.
