Yeah, this feels like another level from the previous administration for sure...whatever it is calculated or not the impact on innocent people is just mind boggling

Is it the beginning of a civil war? Or is it the latest invented crisis? The kidnappings and disappearings are real, and that's what they are. But is the response to the protests calculated in any way or just the latest car that Donald Trump is chasing? I don't mean that I think what is happening isn't serious, but we saw overreactions to protests in his last administration and it didn't come to much (though granted the military were not involved).

Is this just part of the overwhelm approach, which is to just have so much going on no one knows what to focus on?

I agree the chance of it becoming something that looks like a "civil war" is still remote but it depends how far they go. I genuinely do believe that this was calculated, not in its details by Trump personally but by Miller, Homan, and others. I'll be happy to be wrong but it looks to me like they are going way beyond first term car-chasing and there is a strong possibility they are following a calculated chain of escalation which is going to involve the Insurrection Act and the use of the military for immigration raids. In general I've tried to be cautious about jumping the gun with alarmist claims so far in his second term but I'm not going to give them the benefit of the doubt here.

Maybe they should just riot at the halls of Congress, attack the Capital police - then it would be OK

a sad moment for all of us. the fact is that Trump is a symptomatic manifestation of a deep problem in America. hate, grievance and ignorance combined with political apathy are allowing these travesties to grow. it's both gross and sad.
